Criminal defense in Olympia Heights
Because Olympia Heights has no city government, the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office is its police. The district station closest to the middle of the area is the Kendall Station, 7707 SW 117th Ave., Miami, FL 33183, phone 305-279-6929. A street on the edge can fall in a different district, so the arrest report is the final word.
The area shares ZIP code 33165 with Westchester, so a mailing address alone does not tell you which neighborhood you are in. We defend DUI, drug, theft, fraud and domestic violence charges here, and we speak Spanish.

History
Olympia Heights is young by Miami standards. All of its development happened in the twentieth century, once the housing shortage that followed World War II pushed families out of older neighborhoods.
In the 1950s, a westward migration of residents sharply raised the population density around Olympia Heights and laid the footing for the neighborhood. To steer that growth, neighborhood organizations formed as early as 1958, and these improvement associations pressed for better traffic circulation, lighting and recreation facilities.
The setting helped: the area was described as likely to become one of metropolitan Miami's finest residential areas because of its surrounding lakes. The 2010 census counted 13,488 people there. It remains unincorporated, which is why county services, not a city hall, are the local government.
The first 24 hours after an arrest
Under Florida's rule on first appearance, a person taken into custody must be seen by a judge within 24 hours, in person or by video, unless lawfully released first. See Fla. R. Crim. P. 3.130(a).
If the Sheriff's Office arrested your family member, call the Kendall Station at 305-279-6929, or 305-SHERIFF, the Sheriff's general line, then check our inmate search page.
The first 24 hours: a short list
- Be calm and polite, tell the officer your name, and ask for a lawyer.
- A request to search is a request. You can decline it politely.
- Record the facts tonight: officers, times, street names, who saw it.
- For families: pin down where your person is being held, then phone us. We pick up at any hour.
- Anyone who is not a U.S. citizen should tell the lawyer at the start, before a plea is even mentioned.
