In plain English
Judge George A. Sarduy sits in the Circuit Family Division, Section FC 16, in Room CHC 2015 at the Lawson E. Thomas Courthouse. The Judicial Assistant is Venessa Alicea. The page asks all attorneys and self-represented litigants to register with the Florida Courts E-Filing Portal for filings and with CourtMAP for proposed orders. A remote five-minute motion calendar for non-evidentiary matters is held by Zoom every Tuesday at 9:30 AM and every Thursday at 1:30 PM. To use it, the motion is filed in the portal, a date is agreed with the other side in CourtMAP, and a Notice of Hearing is filed with the Clerk at least 7 business days before the hearing. For a special set hearing, the motion and a Request for Hearing are filed, and then chambers is contacted by phone or email with opposing counsel on the line or copied.
Frequently asked questions
How do I set a special set hearing?
The page says to file the motion and a Request for Hearing with the Clerk through the e-portal and add 11thFC16@jud11.flcourts.org to the courtesy copy list. The request should state the number of witnesses and exhibits, any interpreter need and the realistic time needed. Then contact chambers by phone or email, with opposing counsel on the line or copied.
How do I get a Zoom link for a five-minute motion?
The page says CourtMAP generates an email with the Zoom login once the case is calendared and the Notice of Hearing is filed. Only parties on the e-service list receive it, up to a week before the hearing and no later than two days before.
Are there hearings for uncontested cases?
The page says there are no hearings for uncontested (UCD) cases and no Zoom link is provided. Once the case is resolved, it can be set on the Uncontested Calendar in CourtMAP, which the page says has slots every Thursday at 10:00 AM, and the final paperwork is submitted as a proposed final judgment.
What does the page say about emergency motions?
The page says an emergency motion must be filed and uploaded through the emergency option in CourtMAP. It must certify a true emergency and say opposing counsel was notified. The page says to be prepared to appear within one hour of submission.
