Criminal defense in Doral
Doral is an incorporated city with its own police department, on NW 99th Avenue. After an arrest, the court that hears the case depends on the charge: the court's County Criminal Division hears misdemeanors, and its Circuit Criminal Division hears felonies.
We defend people charged in Doral with DUI, driving-license offenses, domestic violence, drug charges, fraud and theft. Many people in Doral speak Spanish, and so do we. If you are not a U.S. citizen, tell us first, because a plea that looks routine can affect immigration status.

The first 24 hours after an arrest
The first deadline after an arrest comes fast. A judge must see the arrested person within 24 hours, unless the person was already released in a lawful way, and the hearing may be by video. See Fla. R. Crim. P. 3.130(a). At that first appearance the judge reviews the charges and release conditions.
If Doral Police made the arrest, the phone listed on the department's contact page is 305-593-6699. The page does not label it as a non-emergency line, so use it for questions, not emergencies. For emergencies, call 911. To find out where someone is held, use the jail search on our inmate search page.

Where your case is heard
The court lists the Harvey Ruvin Justice Center, formerly called the North Dade Justice Center, at 15555 Biscayne Blvd., Miami, Florida 33160, among its County Criminal locations. Court hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and the court says there is a free lot at the building. If your paperwork still says North Dade Justice Center, it is the same place. Coming from the north, the court routes drivers off I-95 at N.W. 163rd Street, east to Biscayne Blvd., south to N.W. 156th Street, then an immediate right into the lot. Coming from the south, it routes drivers off I-95 at N.W. 135th Street onto Biscayne Blvd. northbound.
The branch courthouses are county court locations for misdemeanors, traffic cases and small claims. Misdemeanor cases are assigned when they are filed, not by city, so check your paperwork for the location. Criminal jury trials are held at the Gerstein Justice Building, not at the branches. Felony cases go to the Circuit Criminal Division at the Richard E. Gerstein Justice Building, 1351 N.W. 12th Street, Miami, off the Dolphin Expressway (SR 836).
One of the court's routes to Gerstein uses the Turnpike and FL-874 to FL-826, then FL-836 East to the N.W. 17th Avenue exit. Several of those roads have tolls.
