In plain English

Judge Gordon Murray sits in the County Civil Division, Section CL 01, in Room JCC 260 at the Joseph Caleb Center. The Judicial Assistant is Katherine Sanfeliz Alfonso, and the page lists her email as ksanfelizalfonso@jud11.flcourts.org. The page says all motions, proposed orders, agreed orders and supporting documents are submitted through courtMAP, and that e-filing is not the same as courtMAP. The Motion Calendar and Calendar Calls are on Zoom, with the Motion Calendar on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays from 9:00 to 10:00 AM and Status Hearings on Fridays at 11:00 AM. Special Set Hearings and Pre-Trial Conferences are in person by default. The page says the Judge generally does not allow unilateral settings.

Frequently asked questions

What if the other side will not coordinate a hearing date?

The page says to request a Case Management Conference with the Judicial Assistant, held Fridays at 11:00 AM by Zoom. It notes that self-represented defendants' hearings may be set unilaterally with reasonable notice.

Which motions need a special set hearing?

The page lists Summary Judgment, evidentiary hearings, attorney's fees and Motion to Determine Rent, and says these will be cancelled if placed on the Motion Calendar.

How do I ask for a Zoom appearance at a special set or pre-trial conference?

The page says to submit a motion and proposed order through courtMAP, with Zoom links and IDs in both the proposed order and the Notice of Hearing. The parties must first confirm that all agree to appear remotely, and then submit an Agreed Order through courtMAP.

How do I cancel a hearing?

The page says only the moving party may cancel through courtMAP, and a Notice of Cancellation with a reason must be filed. Courtesy copies are not required.

DIVISION ASSIGNMENT & USE OF COURTMAP
Judge Murray presides over County Civil Division CL 01 only.

All proposed orders, agreed orders, and supporting documents must be submitted via court MAP.
Reminder: E-Filing is not Court MAP. E-filing sends documents to the Clerk; court MAP submits to chambers and may be required to set hearings.
Use court MAP to check availability and coordinate hearings.

JA Email: ksanfelizalfonso@jud11.flcourts.org

IMPORTANT FOR ATTORNEYS
Court MAP Required: Submit all motions, proposed orders, and agreed orders via court MAP.

(Please review the AO No. 26-04 - Disclosures of Use of Generative AI by Attorneys and Self-Represented Litigants. Select the "Motion Calendar" tab on this page.)

NOTICES OF HEARINGS
- Court MAP issues Special Set hearing notices (in-person by default). If Zoom appearance is granted, attorneys must file an Amended NOH with the Zoom details on this page.
- For Motion Calendar and Status Hearings, attorneys are responsible for filing the NOH and must include Zoom info.

SETTING HEARINGS UNILATERALLY
Judge Murray generally does not allow unilateral settings. If coordination fails, request a Case Management Conference (CMC) with the JA—held Fridays at 11:00 AM via Zoom.
** Self-represented defendants: Hearings may be set unilaterally with reasonable notice.

INTERPRETER NOTICE - COUNTY CIVIL
Hearings are conducted in English. Court interpreters are NOT guaranteed for County Civil matters.
**You must provide your own interpreter for yourself or any witnesses, including opposing party witnesses.
Attorneys: Include interpreter warnings in hearing notices when needed.

CL 01 HEARING PROCEDURES
ZOOM vs. IN-PERSON HEARINGS:
Hearings in Division CL 01 may be held via Zoom or in-person, depending on the type of calendar.

ZOOM-Only Calendars:
- Motion Calendar – Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays from 9:00–10:00 AM

Jury Trial Notices and Calendar Call
Please be advised that Court Map automatically issues notices of hearing for Jury Trials as “in-person/live.” These orders cannot be customized by chambers. While all Jury Trials will proceed in person, Calendar Calls are conducted via Zoom. Parties should plan accordingly.

IN-PERSON Calendars:
- Special Set Hearings
- Pre-Trial Conferences
To request Zoom appearance for Special Set or Pre-Trial Conference, submit a motion and proposed order via court MAP.
Ensure Zoom links and IDs are included in both the proposed order and your Notice of Hearing.

If a party wishes to have their Special Set hearing conducted via Zoom, they must first coordinate with opposing counsel to confirm that all parties agree to appear remotely. Once both parties have agreed, an Agreed Order must be submitted through Court MAP for the Court’s review.
