In plain English
Judge Christine Bandin sits in Circuit Family, Section FC 18. The courtroom is Room CHC 2926 at the Lawson E. Thomas Courthouse. The page lists Ermiz Santana as judicial assistant, Valarie Batts as bailiff, and the division email 11thfc18@jud11.flcourts.org. The page says the division uses a recurring Zoom meeting ID for all matters scheduled on Zoom, and that CourtMAP no longer sends a Zoom invite. It describes a remote five-minute motion calendar on Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m. for non-evidentiary matters, special set hearings and case management conferences, trial setting after mediation, and an uncontested calendar handled administratively. Proposed orders go through CourtMAP, and filings go through the E-Filing Portal.
Frequently asked questions
How do I set a motion on the five-minute calendar?
The page says the calendar is for non-evidentiary matters every Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. by Zoom, and only two motions per case will be heard. File the motion on the E-Filing Portal, serve the other side, coordinate a date on CourtMAP, and attach the motion and the Notice of Hearing. The notice of hearing must be filed with the Clerk at least 7 business days before the hearing, and late notices are rejected.
How do I set a special set hearing?
The page says to file the motion and a Request for Hearing with the Clerk, then use CourtMAP to coordinate a date with opposing counsel. Dates on CourtMAP are reserved for no more than 30 minutes per case, and a longer hearing needs an e-filed request stating the time needed. An evidentiary special set must be labeled "EVIDENTIARY" after the motion title and will be in person.
How does the page say to request an emergency hearing?
The page says to file the emergency motion and upload it with the Request for Hearing to CourtMAP under Emergency Motions, then email chambers at 11thfc18@jud11.flcourts.org and call chambers.
How is a trial set?
The page says all cases must attend mediation before a Notice of Readiness for Trial is filed, and that the notice must list the specific issues to be tried. It says all notices of trial need a case management conference before trial can be set, and to contact chambers to set it.
