The office is in Room CHC 1745 of the Lawson E. Thomas Courthouse Center, 175 N.W. 1st Avenue, Suite 1745. The judicial assistant listed is Diana Somoano, and the chambers email on the page is 11thfcgm08@jud11.flcourts.org. Frequently asked questions
How do I set a hearing before General Magistrate Fernandez?
The page says to use CourtMAP to see dates and times. If both parties are represented by attorneys, they must agree to the date and time before scheduling. The page says hearings must be set by the parties or attorneys for a future date within 15 days from the date of the order of referral, otherwise the General Magistrate's office sets the hearing at the earliest available date.
Can a hearing be held by Zoom?
The page says you may request a remote hearing by Zoom. You reserve the date and time on the CourtMAP calendar marked as Zoom hearings, then email 11thfcgm08@jud11.flcourts.org to explain why you are requesting Zoom. The page says the office will send a confirmation or a denial. A hearing originally scheduled by Zoom proceeds by Zoom, and the Notice of Hearing confirms the type of hearing.
What does the page say about exhibits?
The page says exhibits should be marked 1, 2, 3 for the petitioner and A, B, C for the respondent. An exhibit list must be submitted in advance of the hearing, and the page states the period as 7 working days in one place and seven days in another. It also says a copy of the exhibits and the list must go to the opposing party or attorney.
How does the page handle continuances and cancellations?
The page says any request for a continuance of a hearing before a General Magistrate must be heard by the General Magistrate, and that a notice of cancelation is insufficient and will not cancel a hearing. It says to contact the office if a case or referral is settled or withdrawn.
